HOPAK! Gala 2007
 

The Alberta Ukrainian Dance Association (AUDA) invites all performing ensembles and dance schools to participate in a non-competitive celebration of Ukrainian Dance in Alberta.

HOPAK! Gala 2007 will showcase Ukrainian Performing Groups and Dance Schools from across Alberta. This is a great one-time opportunity for performing groups to share one stage in support of AUDA. Young performers will gain confidence and exposure as well as enjoy all that our Ukrainian-Canadian culture has to offer.

HOPAK! Gala 2007 will take place on June 16, 2007 in Edmonton, Alberta at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, located on the campus of the University of Alberta.  The day will be divided into 2 performances:

1. Youth Showcase (4:00 pm – 6:00 pm) An opportunity for Dance Schools from across Alberta to showcase their students, culminating in one joint Youth Hopak.

2. Extravaganza Concert (8:00 pm – 10:00 pm) A showcase of the best performing ensembles in Alberta. The first half will conclude with the Youth Hopak, the concert will close with the joint Adult Hopak.

Confirmation of performers is required by March 16, 2007. All groups participating need to be Alberta Ukrainian Dance Association members in good standing with memberships paid for 2006/2007. A confirmation package will be forwarded once all of the registration forms have been received.

Youth Showcase Participants

Dance Schools residing in Alberta and members in good standing of AUDA can perform. A maximum 6 minute performance time is allocated to each group. Schools wishing to perform two dances will need to submit a dance of youth aged 6-11 and a second dance of youth 12 years and up.

Extravaganza Concert Participants

Restricted to Senior Performing Ensembles in Alberta (that do not compete in competitions) and members in good standing of AUDA. A maximum 10 minute performance time (2 pieces) is allocated to each group.

Youth Joint Hopak

AUDA invites 2 couples (2 boys and 2 girls) from each Dance School to take part. Youth Hopak participants must be between the ages of 9-13. Participants need to be available for ALL proposed rehearsals: May 27, June 3, June 10, and June 15.

Adult Joint Hopak

AUDA invites 2 couples (2 boys and 2 girls) from each Performing Ensemble to take part.  Participants need to be available for ALL proposed rehearsals: May 5, May 6, June 2, June 3, and June 15.
