Peace River Muzyka Dancers - Dance Instructor

Job Title:            Dance Instructor
Job Term:          One-Year Renewal Contract beginning August 2010
Salary Range:    $25,000 - $30,000 per year (based on experience & commitments)
Location:            Peace River, Alberta – 500 km northwest of Edmonton
Hours:                Tuesdays (negotiable) – September to May – 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Job Description:
-   Choreograph and instruct Ukrainian dancing for dancers ranging in age from 4 to 18 years old for approximately 30 dancers.
-   Conduct 2 – 3 dance workshops throughout the year.
-   Choreograph annual year-end concert, possibly with a storyline.
-   Be able to attend two festivals, Malanka, and year-end concert.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
-   Extensive training and experience in Ukrainian dance.  Knowledge and experience in other areas of dance would be an asset.
-   Extensive knowledge and understanding of regional choreography, music, and costuming are required.
-   Ability to work with dancers ranging in age from 4 to 18 years old in a positive and encouraging environment while maintaining discipline and structure.
-   Able to effectively communicate and work with Executive members.

Location:
-   Our club holds weekly practices in the gymnasium of a local school.
-   Practice ballet barres are available.
-   Extensive inventory of regional and character costuming and props available.

Contract to Include:
-   Hourly dance instruction rate
-   Professional fee to attend concerts and festivals
-   Professional fee to instruct workshops
-   Fee per diem
-   Mileage
-   Accommodation if required

Troyanda Society of Grande Prairie - Artistic Director

The Troyanda Society of Grande Prairie invites applications for the position of Artistic Director. This is a 2 - year renewable contract beginning September 2010.  Salary Range: $30,000 - $40,000/per year (based upon experience & contract commitments)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Planning and instruction of beginner through advanced Ukrainian dance classes
    o Wednesday & Thursday ~ September through May (approx. 30 weeks)
    o 70+ dancers aged 5 and up.
    o Includes Troyanda’s “Enrichment Group” comprised of dedicated dancers aged 11+ who wish to have additional opportunities to perform at events & festivals.
- Choreograph original dances for each group as per a mutually agreed upon schedule
- Coordinate annual dance concert; possibly with a storyline
- Conduct dance workshops throughout the year (2)
- Attend performances and competitions with dancers
    o Malanka
    o Festivals (2)
    o Year End Concert

Skills & Attributes sought:
- Extensive training in Ukrainian dance; experience in other disciplines an asset
- Musical knowledge and an solid understanding of regional choreography
- Ability to connect well with students of all ages in a positive and supportive manner while encouraging them to give their best
- Well organized, consistent & disciplined
- Imaginative, energetic & passionate
- Able to work well under pressure and communicate effectively
- Genuine love of dance and a strong desire to share experience with students

Myrnam and District Ukrainian Dance Club - Dance Instructor

Dance year runs from Sept.1, 2010 thru May 31, 2011

Job Description:
- Choreograph and instruct Ukrainian dance for students in age from 4 to 18 years in age (approx. 20 students)
- Be able to attend two public performances
