Milolika Smolyaninova

Director

Milolika joined AUDA in 2020 and currently is a dancer with Suzirya Ukrainian Dance Theater Association and an instructor with Yalenka Ukrainian Dancers Society. She began her journey in Ukrainian dance 16 years ago when she immigrated to Canada! Immediately, Milolika formed a dance family who cheer her on as she performs her favorite Transcarpathian jiggs. Milolika loves Transcarpathian dances and costumes as she believes that it closely reflects her never ending energy and excitement. Milolika loves the sense of community that comes with Ukrainian dance. It doesn’t mater where in the world she is, if she ever encounters another Ukrainian dancer, they immediately became close family. Despite ever dancing with them or knowing anything about them, they can always play some Hopak music and something beautiful comes! Aside from being a substitute teacher with the Calgary Board of Education, Milolika is an incredibly adventurous person and in her free time enjoys hiking, backpacking, and kayaking many of the beautiful peaks and valleys in her Canadian back yard. In recent years, she has developed a passion for rock climbing.
